TRIBUTE TO SPVM POLICE CONSTABLE MOHAMED LAMINE BENREDOUANE

"Before we begin the business of this evening's meeting, I would like to recognize the tragic passing of SPVM Police Constable Mohamed Lamine Benredouane, who lost his life in the line of duty while protecting our community.

Last week, I had the honor of representing the Town of Mount Royal at the commemorative ceremony held at the Bell Centre. It was a moment of great dignity that reminded us that behind every uniform there is a person, a family, and a life dedicated to serving others.

What struck me most was not only the sadness felt throughout the arena, but also the extraordinary respect shown by thousands of people for a young officer who chose a life of public service. It was a powerful reminder that the safety we enjoy every day is made possible by women and men who willingly accept risks most of us will never have to face.

On behalf of the Town Council and all the residents of the Town of Mount Royal, I offer our most sincere condolences to his family, his loved ones, and all members of the Montreal Police Service. We also express our deep gratitude to them for their courage, professionalism, and commitment to our safety.

May Officer Benredouane rest in peace. May his memory continue to inspire us, and may we never take for granted the sacrifices made by those who wear the badge in service to all of us.

OPENING REMARKS

"Good evening everyone, and thank you for joining us. I would like to provide a brief update on a few important matters affecting our Town.

As you can see, construction on the future community and sports centre is progressing very well. The project remains on schedule and within budget.

Over the next two weeks you will notice the site becoming temporarily quiet as the annual construction holiday begins. This planned pause is part of Quebec's construction calendar, and work will resume on August 3. The project remains firmly on schedule.

Throughout the Town, several road construction projects are also underway. We are aware of the inconvenience they cause, but these investments are essential to maintaining and modernizing our infrastructure for the benefit of current and future generations.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this busy construction season. I also ask everyone to drive, cycle and walk carefully around work zones, as these projects will continue throughout the construction holiday.

Finally, I invite you to enjoy the many activities TMR has to offer this summer: our beautiful parks, concerts, the farmers’ market, food trucks, and the many community events that make the Town of Mount Royal such a wonderful place to live.
