Resilient Properties: Registration is now open!

It is now time to register!

Registration is now open for Resilient Properties, an inspection program fully funded by the municipality, representing an investment of $1 million in 2026. Eligible property owners can now register to receive a free, comprehensive professional inspection of their property's plumbing.

The program is open to property owners who have experienced and reported a water-related loss to the Town or their insurer since June 15, 2022. The loss must have occurred as a result of heavy rain, flooding or sewer backups caused by exceptional weather conditions.

Registration

Eligible property owners are invited to visit the Resilient Properties section of the Town's website to check their eligibility and submit their application online now.

A comprehensive professional inspection, free of charge

Eligible property owners will receive turnkey support from an independent specialist firm appointed by the Town. The inspection will include an analysis of check valves, French drains, foundations, guttering systems, coping stones, and the slope and layout of the land.

Following the inspection, a detailed report will be provided to the property owner, including a diagnosis of vulnerabilities and personalized recommendations to reduce the risk of water damage. However, the recommended corrective work will remain the responsibility of the property owners.

350 spots in 2026, first come, first served

For the year 2026, 350 inspections will be offered. Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis from among eligible applications received before August 31, 2026. Proof of claim to the Town or its insurer is required when registering online. Inspections will be carried out between May and October 2026.

Please note that the programme will run for three years, until 2028, for a maximum of 1,000 inspections.
