Adoption of the first draft by-law of the Beaumont Specific Planning Program (PPU)

In April 2024, the Town of Mount Royal began developing a Specific Planning Program (PPU in French) to define a vision and development guidelines for the Beaumont sector.

With the objective of encouraging citizen participation and gather ideas and feedback from all stakeholders, several meetings have been held since the project's inception.

Nearly 120 residents or members of the business community had expressed their views at the end of the latest citizen participatory activities, either in person or through a survey, on the following topics: environment, mixed-use development and built environment. Since then, the Town has continued its efforts and discussions with stakeholders to advance the project.

It is with great enthusiasm that we announced the adoption of the Beaumont Specific Planning Program yesterday at the Town council meeting. This step in the right direction is the result of several months of efforts, as well as numerous meetings and discussions.

Next Steps

  • An open house will be held on March 23 for residents living near the Beaumont sector who have contributed in various ways to the participatory process launched by the Town. Invitations will be mailed to them by mid-March 2026.
  • A public consultation pertaining to the Act respecting land use planning and development is scheduled for March 25 in the Schofield Room at Town Hall.
    • Townies are all invited to come and discover the progress of this innovative development project, which will add mobility, dynamism, and harmony to the Beaumont sector.
