At the gala hosted by the Association of Municipal Engineers of Quebec (AIMQ) on September 22, Mr. Éric Painchaud, Director of the Engineering and Environment Department, accompanied by Section Chief Ms. Hala Gébrine, proudly accepted this prestigious award on behalf of the Town. Also appearing in the photo: Mr. Réjean Vigneault, outgoing president, and Mr. Philippe Côté, the AIMQ’s newly appointed president.

The Town of Mount Royal is especially honoured because it is the very first municipality to receive the “Engaging Municipality” Award, with the Resilient Properties program serving as an excellent example of community engagement!
In Partnership with Our Residents
Faced with the challenges posed by heavy rainfall events, our teams sought to take preventive action and provide property owners with practical tools to better protect their properties. This led to the creation of the “Resilient Properties” program, which aims to support eligible property owners by providing them with a free professional inspection, an assessment of their vulnerabilities, and personalized recommendations.
For the current municipal administration, making our town more resilient isn’t just a matter of infrastructure. It’s also about mobilizing our teams, working with our residents, and finding concrete solutions together to the challenges that lie ahead.
Tangible investments
This initiative is part of the Town’s asset and stormwater management strategy and complements the investments made in its infrastructure to better manage surface water within its boundaries.
The Resilient Properties program was made possible thanks to the efforts of our team members and the unwavering support of members of our Town Council, who have shown the openness and vision needed to invest the resources required to launch this project and bring our community together.
Please note that residents can still register for the Program on the Town’s website. Inspections will take place either by the end of fall or beginning in spring 2027.
Congratulations to everyone involved on this great achievement!
