To address the concerns and requests raised by some residents regarding traffic and speed on Lucerne Road, the Town has commissioned a study to assess the situation and propose potential solutions to the issues raised.
The hired consultant is currently evaluating potential options to improve safety for residents in the area and to redesign Lucerne Road along its entire length.
Several options have been put forward, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Elected officials and Town staff are reviewing the proposals while the consultant continues their work to ensure that a solution meeting everyone’s expectations can be selected. Our preliminary analysis is leading us to favour reducing Lucerne to one lane in each direction and adding sidewalk extensions where possible.
The process is expected to be completed this summer, and the funds required to carry out the work can therefore be included in the 2027 budget.
Until final conclusions are received and decisions made, we will temporarily remove the rush hour parking restrictions.
Residents of the area will be kept informed of developments in this matter and of the selected redevelopment project.
