For the third time, the Town of Mount Royal's Public Security department will be launching “live radar” operations in the vicinity of the municipality's elementary schools. This edition will also mark the addition of Pierre-Laporte high school, joining the initiative for the very first time.
Following the success of the pilot phase conducted in May 2024, the operation returns in collaboration with the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), with the aim of reinforcing road safety in school zones.
Students equipped with radar backpacks will be positioned near schools, enabling drivers to see their speed in real time. Police officers will be on hand to monitor drivers' behavior, and those who fail to comply with speed limits will receive warnings or even tickets.
This initiative reminds drivers of the importance of safe driving in school zones, further reducing speeding and protecting children on their way to and from school.
