Heat Wave and Canada Day: Where to Cool Off?

In view of the heatwave forecast for tomorrow, July 1, the Town of Mount Royal would like to inform residents of the following:

Here are a few suggestions to help you stay cool:

  • The air-conditioned lounge located in the REC building (60 Roosevelt Avenue) will be open from 11:00 to 19:00

(Please note that all other municipal offices will be closed in observance of Canada Day.)

Water games

  • Water games in Dakin Park and Mohawk Park will be open from 9:00 to 21:00.

Outdoor Pool and Paddling Pool (Closed)

  • Both the outdoor paddling pool and the outdoor swimming pool are closed for emergency repairs until further notice.

Tips

  • Drink lots of water before you feel thirsty.
  • Spend a few hours a day in an air-conditioned or cool location.
  • Take a cool shower or bath or cool your skin with a damp cloth.
  • Reduce your physical efforts.
  • Wear light-coloured clothing.
  • Keep in touch with family and friends.
  • Close all windows, curtains and blinds when the sun is blazing.
  • Use heat-generating appliances as little as possible (stove, oven, dryer, television, lights, etc).
  • Drink alcoholic beverages, beverages with a high caffeine content or high sugary content in moderation, as they dehydrate you.

If you have any concerns about your health or that of a loved one, please call Info-Santé 811.
