Impacts of the first snowfall of the season

The first snowfall of winter 2025-2026 caused some work to be postponed.

Here is a summary of the work to be done in connection with the recent snowfall:

Branch collection

Our teams are already busy collecting fallen branches. As such, we will give priority to hanging branches, then branches blocking public roads or driveways (branches that have already fallen do not pose a danger). A patrol will be travelling through all the streets of the Town to identify the most dangerous branches and coordinate with the Public works teams.

Heavy snow on trees

We are experiencing an exceptional situation of early snowfall; we are seeing several trees that still have their leaves and have abnormally low branches because they’re covered with snow. The expected thaw in the coming days should cause the snow and leaves to fall, and the branches will return to their normal structure. If this does not happen in the next few days, and you are concerned about a tree on the Town’s property, please do not hesitate to contact Public works to report it.

Leaf collection

Leaf collection operations will be put on hold until the snow melts and allows this activity to resume. We plan to continue leaf collection as soon as conditions are favourable, until early December if necessary.
