CodeRED: Emergency Telephone System Test Call

Get ready for the CodeRED emergency telephone system test call.

Dear Townies,

Once again this year, the Town of Mount Royal will conduct a test call with the CodeRED emergency telephone messaging system on May 21, 2025, around 18:00 to simulate an emergency alert. The purpose of this simulation is to validate that our systems are working and that subscribed residents are receiving the information we wish to communicate to them.

During this test call, the number 1 866 419-5000 will appear on your display. We recommend that you save this number in your contacts under the name TMR Alert. This way, you'll know that it's important to take the call when a potential alert is issued.

This exercise will help validate the numbers in the database and familiarize residents with the system. The Town has integrated into the CodeRED system an initial list of existing residential telephones, as well as the contact details provided by residents who have registered to be notified of any emergency situation. No resident should assume that his or her information is already in the system.

Not subscribed yet?

Would you like to receive messages in the event of an emergency? It's quick and easy!

Please complete the CodeRED registration form BEFORE May 21 to be included in the test scheduled for May 21, 2025, around 18:00.

Registration Form

If you do not have internet access, you can come to the Town Hall in person (90, avenue Roosevelt) to complete the paper form. You can choose to receive alerts by e-mail, text message or telephone message. Registration is free and the confidentiality of personal information is protected.

A CodeRED Mobile Alert application is also available free of charge for smartphones in the App Store and Google Play store.

How the test works

The CodeRED automated call system will try to reach all the telephone numbers in its database. If there is no answer to the number dialed or no voicemail, the system will call twice more. The person who picks up the line during the call must be sure to say a greeting (hello, for example) so that the system recognizes that it is a genuine caller. Otherwise, CodeRED will hang up and retry the call twice. A voice message will be left if the answering machine is activated.

At any time, you can redial 1 866 419-5000 to hear the message again.
