Starting October 2, 2025, the Town of Mount Royal will relaunch its living radar operations in school zones for the fourth time. Conducted in collaboration with the Montreal Police Service (SPVM), this initiative has already proven its worth since its pilot project in May 2024.
During these operations, students will wear backpacks equipped with a radar device that instantly displays the speed of motorists driving nearby. Police officers will be on hand to support the exercise: drivers caught exceeding the speed limit will receive a warning or, depending on the severity, a ticket.
The objective remains clear: to remind motorists of the importance of driving carefully near schools and to ensure the safety of children on their daily journeys.
