Over the next five weeks, the Public Security department of the Town of Mount Royal will be conducting living radar operations near the municipality's elementary schools.
This awareness initiative, carried out in partnership with the Montreal Police Service (SPVM), aims to increase road safety around schools. This operation involves the participation of students who will carry a backpack equipped with a radar, allowing motorists to see their speed in real-time.
Drivers behaving recklessly in school zones will be monitored by police officers and may receive a ticket or a warning for speeding. We hope that this project will have a significant deterrent effect and reinforce the importance of respecting speed limits within school zones.
