Public Security has announced the deployment of three new automated external defibrillators (AEDs) accessible to the public in its parks with sports facilities.
During a cardiac arrest, every second counts. Without intervention, the chances of survival decrease by 7% to 10% per minute.
The prompt use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), combined with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), can make all the difference: within the first three minutes, the chances of survival can reach 75%.
To maximize safety for athletes, families and walkers, the three new safety installations have been fitted in the following strategic locations:
These devices, which are easily identifiable by terminals that light up at night, are designed to be used by anyone, without prior training. Voice instructions guide the user step by step while waiting for the emergency services (9-1-1) to arrive.

These stations are open to the public every day of the year, summer and winter alike, as they are climate-controlled to ensure the equipment remains operational in all weather conditions.
These new AEDs, installed by Public Security, are in addition to those already in place in various municipal buildings and will help make the Garden City even safer.
