A Colourful Cultural Week in TMR!

The Town of Mount Royal recently offered its residents a full week of cultural activities, with something to suit every taste in arts and entertainment.

The event kicked off on Thursday 22 May at the United Church of Mount Royal, with a rousing concert by the Musiciens à la carte ensemble, led by pianist Isabelle Janes and accompanied by soprano Mélanie Saucier, jazz/pop singer Dominic Lafond, double bassist Pierre Séguin and violinist Tristan Lemieux.

In a warm and welcoming atmosphere, the audience savoured a unique programme combining jazz, classical music and pop. An original and unifying concert that perfectly launched this artistic celebration. Music lovers were treated to well-known tunes by Piaf, Gershwin, Bizet and Sinatra, among others

Then it was the turn of the visual arts to take over on Friday with the launch of the ArtTram Art Show, a gallery showcasing the talents of local artists. The vernissage coincided with the cultural organisation's 25th anniversary. To mark the occasion, Mayor Peter Malouf presented a commemorative plaque to President Lori Burnett Segall, saluting a quarter-century of commitment to promoting artists and the visual Arts. This plaque will have a prominent place inside the future Community and Sports centre, once it is completed. Over the three days of the show, visitors were able to admire the high quality and diversity of the works on display in Schofield Hall at Town Hall.

Finally, the cultural week came to a close on Saturday, May 24 at Place de la Gare, where a newly installed public piano awaited music lovers. Residents and visitors were invited to come and play their favourite melodies or simply enjoy the musical talents of the neighbourhood. Croissants and coffees were served in a convivial atmosphere.

Don't miss this summer's not-to-be-missed event: the public piano is open and accessible at Place de la Gare every day from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., weather permitting. Come and enjoy some great musical moments, whether you're playing the piano or listening to your neighbours express themselves through music. This public piano initiative is made possible thanks to the support of the Redding-Rouleau team of real estate brokers.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of this cultural week!
