Summer is just around the corner and new teams made up of students and Town employees will be deployed across the territory to inform and interact with residents on various initiatives.
Whether it's environmental issues, gutters, pool enclosures or trees to be replaced in backyards, the teams on the ground will be able to inform you about the steps required to ensure the safety and compliance of your homes.
The Town is committed to preserving its urban forest. Over the past five years, some of you have either lost a tree in a storm, or obtained a certificate of authorization (permit) to cut down at least one tree on your property.
A dedicated Green Line team will meet with the owners in this situation to validate whether or not the replacement has been carried out, and if they need to make an appointment to schedule an inspection. The deadline for replacing these trees is December 1, 2025.
A letter will be sent to the owners; if you are in this situation and have not received a letter or a visit from our dedicated team, please contact the Green Line at 514 734-4222.
In 2024, the Town issued several communications on the subject of heavy rainfall, and among the solutions retained to reduce potential impacts was the management of water running off gutters.
As a reminder, CMM’s Bylaw 2008-47 prohibits the connection of gutters to the main sewer and/or French drain, as this type of connection increases the quantity of water entering the Town's combined sewer system and contributes significantly to overloading the system during rainfall. Therefore, it is important to disconnect your gutters from the network and to properly prepare your property to receive this rainwater, in order to help divert an average of 100,000 liters of rainwater from the sewer system per year, per home.
Two students wearing TMR colours will visit homes to check gutters and inform homeowners of the regulations in place.
During the same visit, they will make sure that pools are secured by an enclosure, as required by the provincial regulationon pool safety. The deadline for securing your pool is September 30, 2025.
A reminder will be given to homeowners whose pool security is non-compliant.

Finally, a Green Patroller will be deployed from May 27 to July 27 on our territory, with the mission of raising residents' awareness of good environmental practices, including drinking water management, composting, waste reduction and protection of urban biodiversity.
The Green Patrol's mandate includes:
