Special measures (COVID-19)

From March 8 to April 3 incl., by reservation only (*closed on Friday, April 2 - Holiday). The arena will accommodate up to 25 skaters at a time for public skating, as per the following schedule: Monday to Friday first one-hour block at 16:30, Saturday and Sunday first one-hour block at 10:00, half-hour cleanup between the blocks. Reservation online, maximum of 24 hours in advance. Mandatory face mask starting at age 10 in common areas. Please note that when free skating, the wearing of a helmet is mandatory at the arena.

Municipal offices remain closed to the public for an indefinite period of time, with Town Hall among them (February 2021).

Security and sanitary measures as of January 9

  • The skating rinks are restricted to residents only.
  • Hockey: starting Friday, February 26, passes are allowed, respecting the usual 2-meter distance and among a maximum of 8 people.
  • The chalets will be open and the usual sanitary measures will be applied: mandatory face mask inside, hand washing, 2-meter distance between skaters, etc.
  • An area with tables has been set up outside the chalets for changing.
  • Access capacity to each rink or chalet is posted on site and must be respected.

 

During the curfew weeks the outdoor rinks are accessible seven days a week until 19h30. The chalets at Connaught and Mohawk parks will be open from 16:00 to 19:45, Monday to Friday, and 10:00 to 19:45 on weekends. Lockers to store personal items will be accessible inside the Recreation Centre and access to put on your skates and use the bathrooms will be allowed from 12:00 to 19:45 Monday to Friday and from 10:00 to 19:45 on Saturdays and Sundays. Note that the Town is not liable for any theft.

Arena

The municipal arena has a rink, changing rooms and a meeting room. When in season, public skating periods are offered on Tuesdays from 16:00 to 16:50 and on Saturdays and Sundays from 13:00 to 13:50. In addition, the arena is used as a practice rink for the MRO Minor Hockey Association and the Town of Mount Royal Figure Skating Club.

Please note that when free skating, the wearing of a helmet is mandatory at the arena.
