Centre of Civil Security - Severe thunderstorm watch with tornado risk

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the Montreal Island area, with a risk of tornadoes this afternoon and evening.

Please find below information transmitted by Montreal's Centre de Coordination des Mesures d'Urgences (CCMU):

Conditions are favourable for the formation of dangerous thunderstorms capable of producing very strong gusts, damage-causing hail and torrential rain this afternoon and evening.

Heavy rain can cause flash flooding and considerably reduce visibility.

Strong gusts may damage trees or buildings and overturn vehicles.

Please take the necessary steps to ensure your safety.

Please continue to monitor Environment Canada alerts and forecasts. To report severe weather, email meteoQC@ec.gc.ca or post a message on X using #meteoqc.
