Mount Royal, December 13, 2012 – The replacement of street signs will soon get underway in Town of Mount Royal. The operation will be carried out over a period of four to five months by the Town’s blue collar employees. In all, close to 1300 signs will be replaced.

The new vintage style street plates will essentially take the form of the original Town street signs. However, while the former signs were white with black print, contrary to current signage, the new street plates will retain the use of white print over a black background model of the last decades. The new plates, which will be adorned with a rose, one of Town’s emblems, will have more of a traditional contour. This is just one more way the Town was inspired by its centennial.

Back in August, TMR residents were told that they could purchase the existing street signs and reserve them at the cost of $20; this offer was quite popular. As soon as the street plates are available, the Town will contact the residents who reserved them. The signs will be available for pickup at Town Shops, 180 Clyde Road.

Residents who wish to keep a street sign as a souvenir but did not reserve one last summer may call 514-734-3021 or 514-734-3026 to check availability. If the sign you want is available for purchase, you need to go to Town Hall service counter (90 Roosevelt Avenue, 2nd floor) to complete a reservation and make your payment. All proceeds will go to the Town of Mount Royal Volunteer Centre.
