Mount Royal, September 14, 2009 – Do you want to demonstrate your commitment to buying local? Saturday, September 26 could be your chance. As part of the Multicultural Fair, the Town of Mount Royal is celebrating its merchants with Buy Local Day.
For the second year running, residents will be able to take advantage of this great opportunity to discover and support local merchants and restaurants.
“On this special day, we want to celebrate our merchants and restaurants and give them the visibility they deserve, because they are central to the vitality of our community,” said Fouad Sahyoun, city councillor responsible for economic development and member of the board of directors of the Centre local de développement (CLD) Les 3 Monts.

The Thursday, September 14 and 24 editions of the Journal de Mont-Royal will feature an ad page you’ll need to show to benefit from special offers by participating merchants and restaurants on September 26 only. Watch for promotions for residents to raise awareness about buying local the week of September 21 in key commercial centres in the Town of Mount Royal.
“The Town of Mount Royal wants to encourage residents to get into the habit of visiting local businesses and restaurants,” Mr. Sahyoun said. “When you think about it, buying local is good all around: it benefits the environment, the local economy and residents, for the health benefits of walking around to do their shopping.”
