Town of Mount Royal, April 10, 2012 – This year, as part of its Earth Day activities, Town of Mount Royal will plant an oak tree near Town Hall (90 Roosevelt Avenue). All interested residents are welcome to attend the planting ceremony, which will take place on Friday, April 20, at 10:00, outside Town Hall, toward the back of the building, alongside Churchill Road.

On the same day, the Town will kick off a draw that will see it distributing 100 flowering trees to its residents. Specifically, the prizes consist of two types of serviceberry and one type of lilac. Beginning on April 20, Town residents will be able to deposit entry ballots in a box located at Town Hall; the ballots will be available only from the Town Hall reception desk. The draw will be held on May 15, 2012, at 13:30. The contest is reserved for Mount Royal residents and limited to one tree per address. The young trees, which are 2 to 2.5 metres tall, will be delivered to the winners in the days following the draw and during Public Works’ regular opening hours. Planting the trees will be up to the winning residents.

The random draw for 100 trees is also a fine way to mark Town of Mount Royal’s centennial.
