Mount Royal, March 18, 2010 – Once again this year, Town Council intends to adopt a resolution confirming the Town of Mount Royal’s participation in Earth Hour, a major international event. For the fourth consecutive year, cities all over the world, including Mount Royal, will turn off their lights for one hour, to show their support for the fight against climate change; this year, the event will take place on Saturday, March 27, at 20:30.

For one hour, the lights of Town Hall and of all other Town buildings that are free of activity will be turned off in order to stand up for the world’s desire to protect the environment. Needless to say, the lights that the Town will turn off for Earth Hour will be chosen in such a way that public security will not be jeopardized and do not involve, for example, street lighting.

Mount Royal residents, organizations and companies are also urged to take part in the event by turning their lights off on Saturday, March 27, 2010, from 20:30 until 21:30.
