Town of Mount Royal, September 25, 2007 – Just a few days before its Multicultural Fair, during which the winning tree will be unveiled, the Town of Mount Royal is revealing the three finalists in the first edition of its contest aimed at identifying the best looking tree on private property. A weeping willow (1289 Caledonia Road), a white oak (398 Glengarry Avenue) and a silver maple (132 Surrey Road) are now the only trees left in the running.

A special panel, which includes members of the Environmental and Sustainable Development Advisory Committee, took advantage of the last few days of summer to visit each of the addresses entered in the contest and evaluated the 34 trees involved.

The entries received proudly reflect the diversity of the varieties cultivated by Mount Royal residents as well as the great care invested in their culture.  All varieties were eligible but the trees entered into the contest had to be mature, in good shape and representative of their species.

The winner will be unveiled this coming Saturday, September 29, in the early afternoon, at Connaught Park, during the Multicultural Fair. In the meantime, you can take a look at the three finalists – and all of the entries that were received – on our Web site.
