Mount-Royal, March 3, 2008 - The Town Council is offering its residents the opportunity to play an active role in their community by saving seats for them on the Town Council advisory committees. Up to five per committee, the residents sitting on a council advisory committee are mandated to give an opinion and submit recommendations to the Town Council on matters concerning the committee’s mandate. The Town’s practice is that committees act in an advisory role to Council, which takes this into consideration in the decision-making process.

The Council is inviting applications to fill the positions of residents named to the following advisory committees: Finance Advisory Committee, Sports, Recreation and Community Services Advisory Committee, Heritage and Culture Advisory Committee, Issue Table on Public Security and Environmental and Sustainable Development Advisory Committee.

The successful candidates must be residents of Mount Royal. Review of applications will take into consideration selection criteria such as: involvement in the community, experience and expertise, availability.

Applications for these positions should include a curriculum vitae and a cover letter describing the candidate’s interest. They may be faxed at 514-734-3072 or,  e-mailed at nicole.benchetrit@ville.mont-royal.qc.ca or, surface mailed or dropped off by March 17, 2008 at the Mayor’s Office, 90 Roosevelt Avenue, Mount Royal, Quebec  H3R 1Z5.

The committee members will be appointed by the Town Council and chosen among the successful applicants. The appointments will be announced by the Town Council at its April 2008 meeting. The one-year term of office may be renewed.
