Mount Royal, December 17, 2013 – As the Urban Agglomeration of Montreal has yet to adopt a budget, Town of Mount Royal cannot adopt its own budget. At a special meeting of Town Council held on December 16, mayor Philippe Roy and his councillors were nonetheless able to adopt the Triennial Capital Expenditures Program for 2014-2015-2016. However, before proceeding further, Mount Royal have to wait until it is informed of the amount of the aliquot share it will be required to pay to the Agglomeration. Once the amount is known, Mount Royal will be able to adopt its budget and tax rates at a Council meeting to be held in 2014.

This delay in adopting the budget will, in turn, cause a delay in the preparation and mailing of tax bills to Townies next year. It is expected that the payment deadline will be adjusted accordingly.
